At the kind invitation of Madame Houria MEDDAHI, Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Professor Mohamed BOUKHARI, President of the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CNESE), attended the official opening ceremony of the 26th International Handicrafts Fair on Sunday, 9 November, at the Moufdi Zakaria Palace of Culture. The fair is held under the slogan “Algerian Handicrafts: Heritage, Authenticity and Artistic Creativity” and coincides with the celebration of National Artisans’ Day, observed annually on the 9th of November.

The week-long fair is part of the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts’ efforts to promote artisanal products and to strengthen the role of traditional crafts in national economic development. It brings together numerous artisans and institutions under the authority, alongside supporting organisations and craftsmen from 11 brotherly and friendly countries. The programme also includes study days, workshops and presentations that address strategic priorities for the sector’s development.
