On Sunday, the 18th of May 2025, Professor Mohamed BOUKHARI, President of the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (NESEC), welcomed Ms. Marie-Antoinette Rose Quatre, Executive Director of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Continental Secretariat, at the Council’s headquarters.

This meeting formed part of Ms. Rose Quatre’s participation in the annual sessions of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), scheduled to take place in Algiers from the 19th to the 23rd of May 2025.

During their discussions, the delegation led by Ms. Rose Quatre delivered two comprehensive presentations on the Mechanism’s operations, missions and strategic objectives. Particular emphasis was placed on the imperative to reactivate and strengthen national APRM structures—especially in Algeria, one of the very first countries to undergo peer review under this initiative in 2007.

It is noteworthy that Algeria currently chairs the APRM Heads of State and Government Forum, a role that underscores its pioneering status in advancing the principles of integrity, accountability and inclusive development across the African continent. This leadership position reflects Algeria’s steadfast commitment to good governance and to enhancing institutional transparency.
