On 25 August 2025, at the headquarters of the Council, the President of the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council, Professor Mohamed Boukhari, received Her Excellency Ms. Savina Claudia Ammassari, Ambassador and Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Algeria.

This meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to review the state of cooperation between the Council and the United Nations System as a whole, with particular attention to its agencies operating in Algeria and to explore avenues for further strengthening this collaboration.

During their discussions, the Council President and the Ambassador exchanged series of proposals aimed at opening new prospects for future cooperation, in alignment with Algeria’s economic, social and environmental development priorities. The NESEC President reaffirmed, together with the UN Representative, their shared commitment to consolidating and expanding collaboration between the two institutions.

For her part, the Ambassador commended Algeria’s efforts in building a diversified and sustainable economy, positioning the country as a strategic and central actor on the African continent. She also highlighted Algeria’s investments in the social sectors, which have enabled it to achieve a leading position, particularly in the fields of education, training, entrepreneurship and women empowerment.

Finally, both parties underscored the need to unify and streamline their joint efforts in preparing studies, exchanging expertise and implementing training programmes in fields consistent with the missions of both institutions.
