As part of the bilateral cooperation between the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (NESEC) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and within the framework of implementing the project to develop the “MAT” dynamic analysis tool for the Multidimensional Poverty Index, the NESEC, in collaboration with ESCWA, is holding a workshop on Monday, 22 September 2025, at its headquarters. The workshop is entitled “Adoption of the ‘MAT’ Dynamic Analysis Tool by the NESEC and Training in Its Use.”

The workshop, which will continue on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, will feature the participation of two experts from ESCWA’s dynamic analysis team, specializing in statistics and human development.

This initiative forms part of the cooperation programme with ESCWA and reflects a constructive partnership through which the NESEC seeks to exchange expertise and strengthen capacities in support of the shared interests of both institutions, with the ultimate aim of promoting the use of knowledge for development. It also continues the Council’s efforts to adopt advanced analytical and foresight tools that support decision-making and contribute to the formulation of economic and social policies grounded in evidence and field data.

The workshop provides an opportunity to deepen understanding the multidimensional poverty concept, to explore regional experiences in applying the tool and to conduct practical simulations that will help design effective strategies, develop solutions and formulate recommendations in this field.
